It is always nerve-racking coming into a new company and trying to break the ice. Ensuring that new employees feel comfortable is crucial to building a positive transition within a company. We thought it would be fun to ask Peter a few questions to get to know him a little better.
Q: What is your official work title?
A: Systems Support Specialist
Q: Can you tell us more about your professional experience/history?
A: I have a background in Linux systems administration and DevOps, as well as a stint as manager of a small motel property in Gatlinburg, TN. My first IT support job was actually with a company contracted by Helmsley Hotels in New York.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A: I like to spend time outdoors, including hiking and scuba diving. But a bar with good craft beer works, too.
Q: What are your greatest travel experience?
A: In 2001, I visited several countries in Eastern Europe, so that was probably the most expansive. In 2010, my girlfriend and I went scuba diving on a live-aboard in the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. Last June, I hiked a 107-mile section of the Appalachian Trail through the Smokies, from Fontana Dam to Hot Springs, NC. I'll always remember that hike since the last day was my biggest day ever: 34 miles door-to-door from Standing Bear Farm in Hartford, TN, to Sunnybank Inn in Hot Springs. I just returned from a 4-day trip to Miami and Key West, where I went jet skiing for the first time, so that was a great experience too.
