It is always nerve-racking coming into a new company and trying to break the ice. Ensuring that new employees feel comfortable is crucial to building a positive transition within a company. We thought it would be fun to ask Charlie a few questions to get to know him a little better.
Q: What is your official work title?
A: System Support Specialist
Q: Can you tell us more about your professional experience/history?
A: Previously, I worked as an EMT serving Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs. I started in December 2019 and spent the next year and a half responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in my community. Before that, I worked for an overseas hosting company as their senior application developer.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A: Outside of work, I spend my time rock climbing, camping, hiking, and motorcycle riding.
Q: What is your greatest travel experience?
A: While moving from Texas to Illinois, my car broke down near Little Rock, Arkansas. I used my automotive knowledge and a toolkit I kept in my car to diagnose the issue. I tracked down a replacement part in a town 10 miles away. To get the part, I stuck my thumb out and hitchhiked 10 miles into town. I got a replacement from an automotive store, hitchhiked back to my car, and installed the part on the side of the road.
Q: Favorite movie?
A: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Q: Guilty pleasure music artist?
A: Hips Don't Lie By Shakira.
Q: What is something that inspires you?
A: I am inspired by nature. Nature is never perfect, but it is more beautiful than anything ever made by man. Nature is ever-changing, dynamic, and powerful enough to destroy anything in it's way, yet quiet and still at the same time.
Q: What would you say your professional goal would be now that you are employed at Percipia?
A: While at Percipia, my goal is to grow my skills and experience in the telecommunications industry and to become a high-level asset to Percipia. I am attending a cyber security school in the evenings to expand my professional skills and certifications.
